Ministry Distinctives

1. We are missionaries that adhere to the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith.  We cannot understate the importance of doctrine and lives that are in accordance with that doctrine.  1 Timothy 4:12-16, 6:3-5, Titus 2:1

2.  We believe that our goal as missionaries is to glorify God by obeying the Great Commission.  We believe that having humanitarian aid and/or educational endeavors are good, but they should not be the only or main goals for missionaries.  Rather those good things come as a result from the gospel being proclaimed, people being discipled, and biblical churches being established.  Matthew 28:18-20,  Luke 24:46-48

3. We believe in intentional person-to-person evangelism employing the means that Christ and the apostles used.  Some of those methods include open-air preaching, door-to-door evangelism, open-air teaching, conversations in the marketplaces, and evangelizing friends and family.  Mark 1:16-20, 16:15, Acts 2:14, 16:14-15, 17:17, 20:20-21

4.  We believe that missionaries are to be sent by local churches not para-church organizations.  We believe that Christ established and ordained the church to be the means for doing the work of the ministry.  Our goal is to plant a church that will in turn plant other churches.  Our prayer and goal is to see many indigenous led churches risen up.  We believe that Guatemalan led churches with the true gospel are what Guatemala needs most.  Matthew 16:18, Acts 13:1-5, 1 Timothy 3:1-16

5.  We believe in a biblical view of conversion that includes true repentance and genuine saving faith.  We reject adding to the work of Christ for salvation.  We reject sacraments, baptism, or asking Jesus into your heart as being part of salvation.  Mark 1:14-15, Romans 3:19-26, Galatians 1:8-9, 2:16-21, Luke 9:23-26

6.  We believe in verse-by-verse expositional preaching and teaching.  We believe that instruction must be derived from the Word of God and taught in context.  We believe in the sufficiency of the Bible for doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction in righteousness.  We reject the need for dreams, visions, or psychology in the church’s teaching.  2 Timothy 3:16-4:5, John 17:17, 2 Peter 1:19-21
